The FWBO Centres
What is the FWBO?
The forms in which Buddhist truths are expressed always adapt according to circumstances. But the essence of Buddhism transcends culture and conditions.
The Friends of the Western Buddhist Order (the FWBO) and its founder Sangharakshita are creating a new tradition for the West by drawing on the whole Buddhist tradition and emphasising the central principles of Buddhism in order to meet the spiritual needs of men and women today.
At the heart of the FWBO is the Western Buddhist Order. In most Western cities it is now possible to find centres teaching the various forms of Buddhism which have grown up in the East. Alongside these, the FWBO has sought to return to the basic principles of Buddhism and find ways of living them out in the context of the modern West.
