More on Meditation Courses & Retreats
Meditation Overview | Introductory Courses | Meditation Retreats
What do you do after you've learned to meditate? You practice meditation as
regularly as you can and try to deepen your understanding of the
meditation experience.
With meditation practice, it is better to think in terms of
deeper understandings rather than more advanced teachings: the clean
simplicity of the basic mindfulness of breathing meditation can lead to profound
realizations and changes ... when practiced.
Even after years of meditation practice, most
people find it helpful and supportive to discuss their meditation practice
with others and to get tips from more experienced meditators.
Please consider attending one of the
regular classes we hold at the centre,
as an opportunity to meditate regularly with others and to learn
more about how meditation fits into the broader practice of Buddhism.
You will also benefit from coming on one of our meditation
retreats. To benefit fully from such retreats, it is helpful to have a regular meditation practice,
which gives you a base of meditation experience to deepen.
More on Meditation - 5 weeks course (meeting once a week)
After you have completed one of our introductory courses, or if you simply
want to refresh your meditation practice,

These courses offer additional instruction in the
practice of meditation and a supportive context to
further explore your meditation practice.

Meditation Retreats
Since meditation is an integral part of Buddhism, all our retreats include meditation practice.
However, some of our retreats focus on the practice of meditation more fully. The retreats listed
below are for people with an established meditation practice who are
comfortable doing multiple sessions of meditation each day.
A particular retreat's program will vary according to who is
leading it, but all of these retreats may include
periods of silence and lots of meditation practice.
Contact us on 02 9519 0440 for more information.
Advice to the three fortunate women: women's meditation retreat - Explore the imaginative dimensions of meditation and devotion, particularly focussing on the mysterious, transformative figure of Padmasambhava. We'll be using Padmasambhava's 'Advice to the three fortunate women' to help us connect with our inspiration. Come for one week or two.
Exploring sound and silence retreat - From the stillness of meditation, embodiment and silence, we will explore meditation, sound and the practice of mantra. If you can speak you can chant, so no singing experience is necessary. This retreat will enrich your meditation and chanting practice, shaping the voice into mantra and devotional song in an effortless way. Suryagita who leads this retreat is an experienced meditation, voice, and Alexander technique teacher.
Men's meditation intensive retreat - This annual retreat offers an opportunity to further your meditation practice in optimal and supportive conditions. Open to men who have an established meditation practice.
Total immersion - Silent meditation retreat for those with some experience of meditation. An opportunity to go deeper under Paramananda's guidance and live the community life supported by ritual practices.
