Beginners Meditation Retreats

These retreats are for relative beginners with little or no knowledge of meditation. They offer a chance to be in supportive conditions for the weekend, away from the stress and concerns of everyday life, spending a few days dedicating ourselves to meditation and meaningful communication with other like-minded people. Deepen Your Meditation Retreats

Since meditation is an integral part of Buddhism, all our retreats include meditation practice. However, some of our retreats focus on the practice of meditation more fully. The retreats listed below are for experienced meditators who are comfortable doing multiple sessions of meditation each day. You will benefit more from these retreats if you already have a regular meditation practice in place, which allows these retreats to help you take your practice and understanding of meditation deeper.

The retreat program will vary according to who is leading, but all of these retreats include some silence and lots of meditation practice. Contact us on 02 9519 0440 for more information.

Metta: So what gets in the way? - Sangharakshita has said that if we want our actions to be harmless and helpful, we need to cultivate a heart of metta. Metta is the only force strong enough to overcome hatred and for this reason is the most powerful weapon in the world. But as we know this practice is not easy! Over the weekend we will explore each stage of the practice and seek to work out ways to make our own connections.

Women's Intensive Meditation - Led by Chittaprabha. On this retreat we will give ourselves the gift of simplifying our daily life. As we let go of our everyday busy-ness, we connect with the magic of being awake in the moment and rediscovering the beauty of our true nature.
There are 3 Options for attending:
1. Friday 25 April - Sunday 27 April: ANZAC Day long weekend option
2. Friday 25 April - Saturday 3 May: Week long option
3. Friday 25 April - Thursday 8 May: Full retreat

Men's Intensive Meditation Retreat - Led by Khemadhamma and Moksavajra. This annual retreat is a favourite with men in our sangha, offering a rare opportunity to give priority to our practice of meditation in supportive condition. (For men who have a regular mediation practice)
There are 3 Options for attending:

Guiding the Heart towards Enlightenment - The Brahma Viharas are a means to developing a heart that is kind, compassionate, insightful and courageous. Deepening our response to the world in this way, cuts through our limited perspectives and opens us to the vastness of the enlightened mind. We will allow each practice to guide us in its own way on this retreat.

Qi Gong is a practice of flowing movements that develop balance, strength, awareness of body-mind connection, and our Qi (also known as Chi or life energy). Contact us on 02 9519 0440 for more information.

Jenny Cornish, who leads these retreats and other workshops/classes at the centre, has practiced and taught Qi Gong and Tai Chi for many years now, in both Sydney and London. Her teaching reflects her belief in the added integration that these practices can bring to our practices. The retreats are held twice a year and she also runs one day seminars at the centre. No experience required in either meditation or Tai Chi.
